My neighbor in Germany did a similar one, but in a fry pan, and only on one side, leaving the tops rounded and still white. She called them Dampfnudeln, though I understand that to mean “steam noodles”. I haven’t been able to duplicate them, but it struck me at the time that if you flipped them, they’d be very close to English Muffins. Check your spam for my fruitcake recipe…I posted it yesterday AM. Good news is that even if you lose it in your spam box, I saved it – so now I just have to copy and paste!! I have your fruitcake recipe but I’ve been so busy making fruitcake, etc. that I haven’t had time to look closely at it. I will soon. Those English muffins are in the oven. But I did see Miss M split one, brush it with olive oil and sprinkle it with garlic and oregano then otast it in a pan on the stove top. Not an English muffin but it looked great. As toasted muffins, they tasted good but lacked the lightness of store bought– which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.Just not what I expected. Oh. They are flipped 1/2 way through baking.
