I mentioned the other day that I’d gotten a
crappy old book about legumes (the bean family; The Leguminosae: A Source Book of Characteristics, Uses and Nodulation) from the Friends of the Library “freebie table” and was surprised to discover that it’s going for considerably more than $0.00 at Amazon.
And then there’s this nearly 1000 page book about every spineless critter known to man (except of course those who “work” in capital cities) and… and… Biology and Utilization of the Cucurbitaceae. I mean, you just don’t find that many
crappy old books about squash and cucumbers and gourds and such just laying around on freebie tables every day.
I figure I got about $100 worth of biology books for zero dollars.
I know. You think this is silly of me– a waste of time. But someday you may want to know about the Natural History of the Cotton Tribe. What are you going to do then? Look it up on line?
