Little kids

Y’all’s little kid’s in the street!

For some reason, this utterance bothered Mr. Big Food. I really don’t know why. It’s perfectly coherent to me– and I was there! He’s worried about the contractions.

The folks at the end of the road have the cutest little black kid! We see it in its pen as we drive past. The last two evenings in a row, it’s been on the street. So tonight, as last night, we pulled into the drive & honked the horn.

Last night there was no one home to hear our honks but the little kid moved back into the yard so we drove off thinking that we’d done our good deed

Tonight there was someone home to respond to our honking. And that’s when Mr. Big Food said, “Y’all’s little kid’s in the street!”

Once again. I know you City Mice think you are in the business of saving the planet and whatnot. As you #CARRY ON! with that, Mr. Big Food and I will be worrying about the little black kid who keeps being in the road.

And no. I do not want to hear about how incorrect that was. A baby goat is a kid. Little baby goats with black fur are properly described as “little black kids.” Get over yourself.

  1. I’m over myself but oughtn’t there be another apostrophe in “y’alls” so that it’s the possessive “y’all’s”?
