“Hey, Missy!” Marica looked over at Missy who was sprawled out on the bed. “Rocky! Listen to this!”
“ruff,” Rocky mumbled.
“Um hum, Marica?” Missy barely lifted her head. She was exhausted after the big morning run before the rain.
” Listen to this– you’ll love this,” Marica said. ” Quote, ‘All knowledge, the totality of all questions… ‘ “
“Oh no, Marica,” Missy grumbled. “Not more dictionary and encyclopedia talk, please. It’s too intellectually taxing on a dreary day like this.”
“ruf… ,” Rocky was so tired he couldn’t even finish his sentence.
“No, no. You’ll love this. Promise,” Marica assured them. “Quote, ‘All knowledge, the totality of all questions and answers, is contained in the dog.’ “
“Well, I’ll say!” Missy said waking up just a bit. “I could not agree more! Who was the insidious fellow who recognized this truth?”
“Insightful, Missy,” Marica smiled. “It was Franz Kafka in Investigations of a Dog. Found it in this book, The Quotable Dog Lover. You should take a look some time.”
“After my nap, Marica. After my … ,” Missy said as she faded off to sleep.
