Recovery?

SueK asked yesterday if I’d recovered from Drudge Work Monday. Today is Thursday, and no I have not.

This is how exhausted I am. One day this week (??) I came down with a load of white cotton curtains that needed to be bleached and washed. So I started the machine, put the detergent in and poured bleach in the tub in addition to the bleach dispenser. Then I let the water run to dilute the bleach a little before I put the curtains in. Later, while I was down here for lunch– and by that I mean in the Big House as contrasted to in the Apartment– and I heard the washer stop. Perfect timing. Walked into the laundry room and there were the curtains sitting on top of the washing machine.

But! The Apartment is shaping up nicely, although I just discovered that for some reason I have no queen sized sheets.

Normal– such as it is here on the Farm– will commence shortly.

Also commencing shortly will be the fun in seeing how a guy from northern New Jersey takes to the rural Deep South. Bless his heart.

Oh! And get this. The forecast for next week is for highs in the high 90s– that’s like 97-98. Not the heat index, the temperature. Welcome to Mississippi Dr. NJ.

    1. August is a rough one, even if you’re used to the heat and humidity. On the other hand, there are daffodils at the end of January. So if that matters– and it does to us!– it’s a good trade-off. Should be interesting.

    I knew there was a reason my house doesn’t look as super neat and clean as The Apartment…!!!
    It does look good, though!

  4. When we closed the store, everything was either given away, put into storage or brought home. We rented two storage rooms – one of which I’ll probably keep … got to keep those records for the IRS – one of which we’re going to try to get emptied asap. But home. Oh my. I’m now going through file boxes full of paper. Anything prior to 2009 gets disposed of – but if it has identifiable numbers (found one paper with all of my husband’s siblings plus their children’s SS numbers) it has to be shredded. So first job is to separate by date, then by shred or trash, then I have to take the shred stuff down to Staples to get shredded. .99 per pound, in case you’re interested. The rest goes into the recycle container.
    This _is_ California, after all. We have three disposal containers for weekly pickup…one for trash, one for yard waste, and one for recycle. It really felt odd when we went to my son’s in Tx, and everything goes into the same container! They have us trained!! And an oh yeah….the barrel for trash is colored green. The barrel for yard waste is brown. Now…my husband is starting to have some mental issues. So if I tell him we need to take the green waste up to the street, I never know which barrel he’ll take up….the green _colored_ barrel, or the brown barrel with the green stuff in it! Life.
    Any way. My house is a wreck.

    1. I feel your pain. So much stuff had to come down to either the house or the bunkhouse and I have no idea what to do with it. Funny, though. Up in the apartment there were a number of items that made the trash cut as I went along. Sure. I’ll save that. And in the end? Pitched them.

      We don’t do recycling out here in the country. We do have trash pickup. But we also have burn piles! Not California.
