How ’bout a trip to the real world?

One of my inboxes is a true source of material. There’s an Alexander’s in Baton Rouge. Ralph’s? And did I ever use Waitr? Maybe. Who knows? But this is what spoke to me earlier this morning as I was tracking the storm.

I do not think a grocery cart warrants portrait mode but I’m not a photographer. I am, however, a shopper. Have been one for… 40 years or more. I have never put bell peppers, leeks, pineapple, bananas, carrots, and what is that? cucumber? in my cart like that, have you? And what’s with the carrot tops? I will grant that they are the basis for some excellent carrot top stock. Are you paying for those by the pound? Unless you are making carrot top stock, aren’t you wasting money? I suppose if you have “starting at $2.99” (wonder where it ends) laying around you may not care. But geeze. This doesn’t even approximate any real world experience I am familiar with– and I used to get out on occasion.

Also. I do not like that first sentence.

We want to give you back the time you spend shopping and deliver your groceries right to your door.

To give back X means one has been given X, or X has been taken from one. Save. Sure. But give back? And how do you give back time? Time.

So stupid.

Yes. I did have the tags, “idiocy” and “sheer stupidity” all ready to go.

  1. Well there are some plusses. Gas (or fuel…whatever) adds to the cost of your bill if you go to the market – although we don’t usually think of it that way. And of course, even if I make a list, I rarely don’t forget _something_, that I remember when I see it in the store. Which is my excuse for all those extra goodies that I manage to add to my shopping basket – which could result in a higher bill as I check out! So…actually, it might be cheaper to order and have it delivered – relieve me of all that temptation! On the other hand…lots of times there are specials that allow me to stock up so that when we have emergencies – like corona virus 19 – my shelves are well stocked and I don’t have to worry about standing in lines to get things that the stores might not even have any more… Or just maybe life gets complicated and I don’t have time to shop. Of course, then I could always order stuff for delivery…

    Goodness. Decisions decisions !!!!

    1. The funny part is there isn’t a delivery service within 40 miles of me. No idea how I am targeted with ads for services that don’t exist. And lots of them think I live in California. ??

  2. Well…you know…in the minds of many of those with a certain mindset…it’s the ONLY place to live!!
