Sidewalk to Nowhere

Mr. Big Food, Mr. Big Food’s Dad, and Mr. Big Food’s Mom, and I took a trip to The Vegas Strip today, via the back road.

This is on the outskirts of a little town that didn’t used to be so little. Under that patch of trees are a few homes, connected by a sidewalk.

I suspect that at one time the sidewalk connected a lot of homes to the center of town. Tornado? I don’t know. I don’t know the history of this little town. But clearly, people once lived along this sidewalk.

What’s amazing is that it’s maintained. A 3′ strip of concrete is easily consumed in a few months of a Mississippi summer. Someone’s tax dollars are keeping it up. Or maybe the Supervisor has a sense of history.
