On June 2, Hillsdale College will launch its latest free online course, “Classic Children’s Literature.”
We’re working hard to complete this course very soon.
Families who are stuck at home, or suddenly homeschooling will enjoy this free new resource about some of the greatest stories and adventures ever written.
“Classic Children’s Literature” examines some of the greatest works of children’s literature from Aesop and the classic fairy stories through the works of A.A. Milne, Robert Louis Stevenson, and more.
In this course, you’ll examine the elements of classic children’s literature. You’ll learn how the very best books delight audiences of all ages, produce a sense of wonder, and teach timeless lessons to the young.
Hillsdale faculty, Dr. Daniel Coupland, professor of education and David Whalen, associate vice president for curriculum and professor of English, teach the new free course. “Classic Children’s Literature” also has an introduction by Larry P. Arnn, president of Hillsdale College.
The nine-lecture course covers stories like Beauty and the Beast, The Snow Queen, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Treasure Island, and more.
We began producing the course in January, and it’s been a great joy for me read the books from this course to my children.
Many of these stories are well known to us because they have been retold in modern editions or adapted to film. It is remarkable how much fun we have had as a family discovering the original Pooh, Alice, and Beauty. I hope you can have the same experience with your loved ones.
