Honoré de Balzac was born today, not yesterday, in 1799.
I guess I just wasn’t paying attention.
Daily Reading May 16
Hum. “Born in 1799 on Saint Honoré’s day, 20 May, in Tours, France, Balzac would only later add the French particle de to his name though it is not clear why.”
Still more inattention, the Pocket University Guide to Daily Reading says this:
Honoré de Balzac, b. 20 MY. 1799
Why in the world is this the entry for May 16th? Especially when May 20th entry is someone I’ve never heard of.

Interesting. We shall return to this next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, stay well, keep reading, and enjoy what looks like a fairly pleasant Saturday across much of these United States of America.
