I am THIS far from being done with Miss Missy’s School. Not done as in done & done, just done. In my researches the last few days I have come across a number of notable … things I thought I’d share.

“Well, yes. But I’m stuck so I thought I’d let my brain work on things. Plus the weather is terrible– rained 0.5″ over night, mid-50s now. My brain works best outside but outside is not cooperating.”

First, there is such a thing as golfphobia– at least according to the internet. Not to be confused with glossophobia which is fear of public speaking. Related, there are entire internet sites devoted to Lucy’s list of phobias in The Great Pumpkin. She gets some stuff wrong and I will bet dollars to donuts Charles Schultz did it on purpose.

Next, there exists a unit of measure called a miner’s inch of water. According to that infallible source, it is a measure of the rate of water flow. Here is the interesting thing. It’s different in different states and countries. It is 8.977 gpm (gallons per minute) in ID, KS, NE, NM, ND, SD, UT, and WA; 11.22 gpm in AZ, CA, MT, NV, and OR; 11.69 gpm in CO. Why? [This I discovered in Cameron Hydraulic Data: A Handy Reference on the Subjects of Hydraulics, Steam, and Water Vapor Fourteenth Edition (1970; 1st, 1926).

Discovered that it is not so easy to write a short paragraph blurb on Whitehead and Russell’s Principia Mathematica. Will employ Mr. Big Food for that.

Had some time to kill before the appoint with the Bone Dude the other day and stopped in at the library to look at the freebee tables which are parked outside at the entrance. Picked up Elbow Room: The Varieties of Free Will Worth Wanting by Dan Dennett (1996). Bibliography reads like the membership list of SPP back in the day.

Right. Thanks for asking. I’m done– as in done & done– with Bone Dude. He thinks I should come back one more time in six weeks. I understand his motivations and while not truly suspect– records are important– I am done & done.

Observation I made to reader, 53old: the digital world has obliterated humans’ pattern recognition skills.

Ordered Water: A Natural History (Outwater, 1997) and it shipped 10/13 but is still not here. I need it. I need to know what the Beavers know.
