Almost a year ago!

Looking through last February’s posts I saw the photo of the old truck stuck in the snow that had several inches of ice underneath. What fun! Daryl couldn’t even get me out with his tractor. 4WD was acting up. Finally it kicked into 4W low and took right off.

The stupid generator decided to die a few days ago. It’s on its way to the shop. If we loose power, we will really loose power except for what I have stored up in battery packs and power stations. So prepping is a bit more complicated. I had to move a couple of butane burners and the percolator to the kitchenette in the Bunkhouse for morning coffee.

I can keep the internet up and running for quite a while without power. But if the internet goes down as well… . Come evening time we will still need some entertainment. And this is where I thank the J-Man for picking up all of those radio show cassette tapes!

I wanted to be sure the cassette player worked on battery and that the tapes played. So I loaded up batteries but could not figure out how to get the thing to open to load a tape. See that little square up there above “stop eject”? I tapped that square and nothing happened. And so I tapped it harder and harder and then really gave it a good mashing and still nothing.

You have to push the actual mechanical button down.

I think I’ll think about packing a bag. It will be easier to do when the lights are on. Might as well gather up some CDs and a player for those as well.
