The bluejays are out first thing in the morning squaking their heads off. Robins are everywhere again. Sun burned off the little bit of fog. Very nice.
I, however, spent most of the day inside. This morning I finally solved the WordPress JetPack problem that had been plaguing Miss Missy’s School. Once I solved the problem I had a bunch of background work to do there, and decided to make sure everything was running smoothly at Big Food and The Old Books Blog. I’ve sort of let Old Books slide.
Even earlier I figured out what to do with Father Crow, his wife and widowed sister, and the Corvid Kids. Why and how did they leave the northwest and travel to Mississippi?
Father Crow looked Rocky squarely in the eyes, moved one pace closer to him, and said, “Rocky, I have been told by Mrs. Robin that you are a canine of the highest moral character. I trust I can take you into my confidence? If the others were to know what I am about to confide in you, I’m afraid the delicate balance of life here in the pastures, woods, and forest at Farther Along Farm would descend into disequilibrium. Mrs. Robin is the only one who knows, and there are risks to her as well.”
“Ruff,” Rocky agreed to keep Father Crow’s secret.
“I’ll be blunt. My family, and my widowed sister’s family, are not American Crows. We are Common Ravens,” he stated.
“Ruff?!?” Rocky understood the implications of this revelation but needed to know more. Ravens are not native to Mississippi. Caroline had explained this to him when he was younger, during his Doctor Who phase.
I crack myself up sometimes. The Corvid Kids are Father Crow’s (his assumed identity) two sons and his niece. The sons are named Peter and Matt, the niece, Clara. If you were a Doctor Who fan from before it became unwatchable you got it as soon as you saw the name Clara. If not, Clara was the eleventh and twelfth Doctors’ Companion. Those Doctors were played my Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi, respectively. And ravens have a special meaning for Clara.
