Miss Missy’s School Book I: A Pack of Farm Dogs Starts a School
An endearing story for the whole family, including many learning opportunities for all!
Preview the first three chapters of Miss Missy’s School! The Preview includes a sampling of some of the educational material in the book: the “Guide to Roman Numerals,” some “Epilogue” entries, and the “Index of Missy-isms, Quotation first words, Persons, and Old Things & Ways Explained.”
Homeschool educators will want to read a short post describing the three sorts of instructive materials in the book: “Missy-isms” (vocabulary words); “As Someone Once Said” (famous quotations and their authors); “Epilogue: Old Things & Ways Explained” on the Grownup Blog.
The first Kid Blog post asks children how artists and writers convey feelings and depict scenes in their work. Using an unpublished (but fascinating) illustration of Missy & Rocky as an example, we look at some detail. And then we turn to a written description of a little rabbit from Fifteen Rabbits (1930). I ask:
