Recipe: 7 Up Salad with Topping

7 UP SALAD WITH TOPPING

2 3-oz boxes lemon jello
2 C boiling water
2 C 7-Up
3 large bananas
1 medium-size can crushed pineapple, drained, 1 C liquid reserved (“add water to make a cup”)
Topping
2 large packages Dream Whip, prepared according to package directions
Chopped nuts (for garnish)

Combine jello and boiling water, stir until jello is dissolved, and stir in 7-Up. Chill until mixture is syrupy but not set. Add bananas and drained crushed pineapple, and refrigerate until set. Prepare Topping. Add prepared Dream Whip to Topping and spread over set jello. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

TOPPING

1 Tbsp flour
1 egg
½ C sugar
3 oz cream cheese
2 Tbsp butter

Combine flour, egg, sugar, and reserved pineapple juice (for above) in saucepan and boil until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add butter and cream cheese, and blend well. Set saucepan containing mixture in cold water to cool.
