This is the cookbook Mr. Big Food is working on now. The blurb:

The Louisiana Proud Collection of Home Cooking presents a look and taste of the entire state. Two hundred and seventy six people, all from different towns gave recipes. Each page contains one recipe, an illustration of a building in that town and the contributor’s name. The resulting cookbook is truly a sampling of all the tastes of Louisiana.

Louisiana Proud is (was?) a campaign to promote small local businesses in the state. The campaign also produced several cookbooks. For this one, the editor and his artist son visited small towns and asked for home cooking recipes. They stipulated that the recipes have no “fancy” ingredients–just stuff you’d normally find in your kitchen.

Mr. Big Food reports that the cookbook is a great representation of the wide swath of regional Louisiana fare.
