I have posted this before from time to time. Here it is again! 260 pieces of chicken! Published on September 23, 2011 by Marica | Edit This is big BIG food! Let me walk you through the photo. The guy in the white shirt is Mr. Big Food, and the very proud owner of all three grills. Two of the

It’s Like Living in the Country! Published on August 17, 2021 by Marica So today, I saw two very odd birds. One perched on the fence, the other on the tree. They flew around. I quietly snuck back into house, got a camera… There were multiple text messages. We decided it was a Green Heron. And then, I

Check out what’s playing tonight and tomorrow. Do you imagine that the antenna once broadcast audio of the movie that was playing? Or something else? Downtown Aberdeen looked to be pretty prosperous. It even has a fabric store! On the other hand, I think Penny Lane’s has seen better days. The menu was limited, and

But the food is just as good!
The geese are back! They were here last year, too but they decided not to stay and make a nest. A guy was doing some tree cutting on the peninsula and they apparently didn’t care for that and went on their way. I’ve seen the two of them again several days in a row. Today

Buzzards are cleaning up a dead deer. Who knows what happened. It’s quite far from the house, but very close to the driveway. I cannot remember which Disney movie it is that has the vultures, but whoever drew them must have been acquainted with the real things.
Once upon a time. NEW YORK CITY? Quiet and Serene?!? Originally published on January 22, 2016 Mr. Big Food, Daughter C, and I were in New York City for the blizzard of 2000. We’d been at a conference held between Christmas and New Years. It began snowing over night and we woke to learn that the

This is the all-time top post here at Bigfoodetc. It has already been looked at ten 12 times this new year. A Cross with No Church Published on August 26, 2014 Just off the Winona exit on I-55 is a large cross. It has bothered Miss M for some time that the associated church is not

As we say in the South, there’s you some color right there! The power line and the storm track line are not perfectly Euclid parallel but they are danged close.
Today we will be looking at Christmasy things. Hope you enjoy!
We’ve switched to Christmas mugs! I’ve found both stashes of Christmas books. Still need something for the tall round table by the back French doors so I’ll go poking around in the storeroom tomorrow. And I think the dogs and I will go back behind the range and see if we can’t scout up a

Grandson Phen knows all about the Grateful Dead. His Grandpa John was proud!
This morning in the overgrown pasture, maybe 200′ from the house.
We did it! Mr. Big Food, two friends and colleagues, and I put on an in-person conference at a hotel on the Gulf of Mexico. There were hugs & handshakes as folk saw fit according to their comfort levels. There were excellent talks. Socializing, even! The person who’d been most timid about participating said she

The changing of the truck’s oil is something that’s incorporated into a routine Starkvegas errand day. This week is combobulated. There were nine cars stacked up for an oil change at the place, and so we drove past commenting that “I’ll do it in town.” So I went to town today and was informed that

Reposting today. If you’ve been following along for the past … 10 years or so Originally published on June 30, 2020 by Marica You know that I really really like Independence day.
