Here’s the story. As you know the NCAA National Football Championship Game was last evening. Kickoff 7:30 central. My timing on Marica Cooks Monday had to be impeccable. Here is Missy hanging out at 6:32pm by which time I had reviewed the recipe many many times. It’s very easy but I didn’t want any unnecessary

I’ll continue the Sansing story in a bit. For now… Roast 5+ pounds of “soup bones” in a 400° oven for two hours. Put in BIG GIANT gumbo pot. Pick a whole bunch of fresh Russian Red Celery from the garden. Chop coarsely. Add to pot along with one bag carrots scrubbed but not peeled,

Mississippi State University. Green Light. From the “About” page at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (F.I.R.E.) Why is free speech important on campus? Freedom of speech is a fundamental American freedom and a human right, and there’s no place that this right should be more valued and protected than America’s colleges and universities.

Western Civilization– you know, like all the noteworthy things that have happened in the last 2000 years– is under assault. STATE BEAT AUBURN!! 🙂
yesterday: yesterday evening: That’s right. Miss M & I went to the Prairie Arts Festival in West Point, Mississippi and later Mr. Big Food and I watched the State game which didn’t start until 9pm. Today I am trying to resolve an issue in my library card catalog. TTYL.
Who are these people to impose their values and their brand of “morality” on others? G.T. Lenard, New Jersey State Winner, in American Voices: Prize-winning essays on Freedom of Speech, Censorship & Advertising Bans (1987). What a great question, isn’t it? Who are these people? One is a certain U.S. District Court Judge named Carlton Reeves

From the evening we decided to eat in the living room because new table cloths and BBQed chicken do not play well together. Recall Mr. Big Food loves to add prefaces to some recipes as he puts them in the Big Food Manual and Survivalist Flourishing Guide. Things got so bad down the bayou, what

We had appetizers for Sunday supper. Try it sometime! Cocktail Wieners and Variation Hi Hat Mushrooms in Wine Sauce and Vegan Variation Hot Mexican Bean Dip (Veganized) “This excellent shrimp appetizer could be served as a main dish with either rice or noodles. Mr. Big Food used the same batter to fry up some shrimp! “Serve these deep fried beer battered chicken strips with barbecue sauce or sweet and sour sauce.” BEER BATTER CHICKEN STRIPS 1 large egg ¾ C beer 1 C flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt Ground black pepper, to taste 3 chicken

This is interesting, we thought. Jambalaya with no tomatoes? No ham? Neither Mr. Big Food nor I understood until we saw it. It’s beautiful. With no tomato distraction, the translucent onions and cream colored rice make a wonderful background for the shrimp. The green onions make everything “pop” as we used to say. Whoever came

“Thank you very much but I prefer to just hang out here on the dining room table. I like a game with a little more tackling. And fewer turnovers.” No kidding.
“ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING ME? THAT WAS EXCESSIVE CELEBRATION? UNSPORTSMAN-LIKE CONDUCT?” I am not an LSU fan. I am certainly not a fan of That School Up North. BUT ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Two calls in a row?? Let’s just play tiddlywinks. Neither of those two calls was justified. Please note my formal protest against

You know what’s more odd than the Ole Miss vs. A&M and the State vs. Auburn scores? The sound bar arrived today while Mr. Big Food & I were at the game. I coaxed Daughter C into hooking it up after I hooked it up after we had supper after we got back from the

The Product: Doritos The Premise: A mom returns from the grocery store, and asks her kids for some help unloading the car. They are not enthusiastic about it. The Punchline: … until they hear that she brought back Doritos, which launches them into a race to the minivan. The older sibling thinks he’s got it

The Budweiser Super Bowl Commercial. Now, excuse me, I need to find a tissue. 🙂
Here is what I said on November 16, 2013: Imagine having a team that’s destined to go 4-8 and having the opportunity to see the #1 team in the nation. At 4-5 the excitement is long gone for State. But, Alabama! Should be fun, right? Wrong. State’s now 4-6. Bama’s now 10-0. And we are

That’s correct! This is a post about American Rugby, or as you & I like to call it, college football. “A typical modern scrimmage” The Back StoryDaughter C gave me a set of beautiful leather-bound encyclopedias– not the A-Z sort, the sort in which each volume is dedicated to a specific topic. Our Wonder World:
