Quick aside concerning New Hope Seed Company and Heirloom Seeds. Around the time I wrote the initial reviews of seed companies in early 2012, the web sites for both New Hope and Heirloom displayed messages to customers. New Hope customers were notified that the owner’s sister had died but David (owner) was back at work. Heirloom had an ever changing “we’ll be back” message (cancer, I think). Here’s my post about these happenings with screen shots. These are family run businesses. What’s happening in the family affects the business.

Just something to think about as you contemplate buying your seeds from Burpee.

Quick blog aside: Farm to Madison to Jackson (coffee at Cups!) to Farm to Starkville and back earlier today. PLUS! I downloaded a new statistics package. WooHoo. Lots of interesting and quasi-intelligent things on the schedule for this weekend. Stay tuned.

Humorous aside: I just asked Miss M a grammar question. We discussed possible correct answers, parts of speech, etc. She asked, “Where is that book?”

I just looked at her. “That book,” I said. Even allowing that the possible world had been narrowed down to grammar books– a not very narrow space here on the Farm– “That book” was pretty ambiguous, especially since I’m a Harbrace man & she’s Little/Brown and we have multiple editions of each.

Turns out I did not need a comma.

BLOG NOTE: The mobile version of Bigfood.etc. is up and running. It still needs some tweeking– I may or may not replace that orange!– but I think it’s very readable. Let me know if you have any problems viewing the blog on your mobile devise. I’m using the free and easy version of the plug-in WPtouch 3.

Quick aside re: Carolina vs. Arizona. That was beyond disgusting. Those last few seconds especially were a complete embarrassment if it’s even possible anymore for the NFL to be embarrassed which is highly doubtful. Oh wait. It gets worse. Here’s Bob Costas. Mr. Big Food tells me the next game might– might, I say– be better. Ha. We’ll see.

Quick aside— I have an SEC tag. I haven’t used it at all the last few days. 27-21 Ohio State vs. Alabama just now. I might not be using it too much going forward.

Mr. Big Food is calling it the Lane Kiffin curse.

UPDATE: Mr. Big Food & I just had a spirited discussion on the distribution of Lane Kiffin-style Bad Luck. Mr. Big Food contends Bad Luck is normally distributed. Silly. It’s uniform.
